Very good all around Couldn’t add any more to what others have said: the place is nice, comfortable, staff friendly, food okay (but too much), location great, grounds wonderful, dog (Sparky) friendly. Someone mentioned entertainers wanting a tip. News flash: everyone wants a tip, it’s why they do the things they do. Nothing is done for free. We didn’t want them to wash our shoes or feet or give us foot massages, but they really wanted to — and wanted the tips — so we gave in, let them wash our shoes, and tipped them well. We didn’t want our car washed, but someone did, so we tipped him well. And you tip the entertainers. Then you put money in the tip box at the end of your stay. You go on a gorilla trek, you tip everybody, and handsomely. We didn’t want a porter but the guide told us we’d be helping him, so we did. It can get irritating to keep doling out money if you don’t keep in mind that it’s often the only way most make a decent living (I think I heard the average wage is $100 a month). So we were happy to pay money for a priceless experience.

Wonderful place to stay! Individual bungalow’s which are very roomy with fireplace, large bathroom and nice sitting furniture with a porch. They insured the fireplaces were burning wood and bringing coals keeping them heated. The dinners and breakfasts were very good. The staff was very friendly and accomdating. They are very easy to find and they are within walking distance of the Diane Fossey Gorilla Research Center. After coming back from hikes they washed your feet, cleaned your boots and washed the socks – interesting experience.

Comfortable, great food and great staff Kelvin, the Manager, and his team made us feel very welcome. The lodge that we were assigned to was very spacious and comfortable. For us, breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided, and we were able to choose from a couple of options – it was delicious. We had some requests that the team accomodated and went out of their way to ensure we were satisfied. This is walking distance from the Dian Fossey museum – so if you don’t have that on your schedule, you can easily fit it in.While we were there, the lodge provided local entertainment – though there was some request for tips afterwards. It can get cold, and since they don’t have heating, the team will put in a charcoal fire in the room and provide hot water rubber bottle for your beds.

Geat place Great staff who were welcoming and went over and above. The room was lovely and they lit a fire and hot water bottles in the bed at night. The food was good and we were entertain by the local community, who managed to get the most reluctant dancers up on his feet.

Your next home away from home A peaceful retreat after a long day of hiking. Just down the road from the Ellen DeGeneres Dian Fossey research center, this lodge is in the perfect location. The staff was absolutely wonderful! DJ Kelvin brightened the atmosphere every dinner and encouraged us to play traditional games with other staff members. We truly felt like we were home, and the individual cabins are well maintained, private and very comfortable. If you’re looking for a place to stay, look no further than the DaVinci Gorilla lodge!

Best place to stay when gorilla trekking! Clean, large and comfortable rooms! But what made the real difference is the amazing staff. From the greeting on arrival with fresh juices and help removing boots and trekking gear (including offers of a foot massage) to the scrumptious dinners prepared by Daniel the chef and even to the cozy wood fire laid nightly in our room along with hot water bottles in the comfy beds to be sure we didn’t catch a chill…. we couldn’t have wanted more. Can’t say enough good things about the staff (pic 1) …. From the managers Charles and Kelvin who were ALWAYS in the lobby ready to answer a question or get you a drink (they even made a good Irish Coffee when requested which they had not heard of ????) to Daniel who works in laundry and is also an amazing artist, he taught me a traditional African game (Igisoro) which we played a few times. And there was the “Queen of the giant Jenga ” game who setup the hand made jumbo sized Jenga game in the lovely courtyard and showed of her skills. She also worked in housekeeping along side Emanuel who is always friendly and ready to help with luggage or any other needs. We were entertained one evening by local traditional dancers, who were terrific! (Pic 2 and 3)The security team that maned the gate at all times made us feel very safe. If you want to stay in a local lodge that truly captures the essence of the local culture… I highly recommend DaVinci

Great stay in good location We really enjoyed our stay here and wish we could have stayed longer than one night. The staff is so friendly and helpful. They arranged entertainment (local dancers) in the evening and gave us amazing foot massages after our trekking. The hotel is in a good location. Close to the park and walking distance to Dian Fossey foundation. Our room was huge. It was chilly at night, but they started a fire in the fireplace for us and provided rubber hot water bottles for the bed which made us comfortable all night. We would definitely stay here again.

Luxurious place to relax This is very nice and almost luxurious place to stay. Staff is beyond friendly willing to help you in any way you need. The day we came was quite cold and they put on fire in our room and even put heating bags inside our beds. The food is also very good.

Great place DaVinci was excellent place to stay the rooms were big, clean and comfortable. Staff was amazing so helpful making sure you have everything you need. They also helped me set up a visit to a local school where we had bought some soccer balls (footballs) to bring for the school for the children to play with which was an amazing experience and highly recommend visiting and helping out if you can. They also offered some local tours/experiences that are very interesting and provided some local dancers that they help in the community the first night I arrived. All in all amazing experience and would highly recommend.
